Two boys racing on the road leads to a tragic accident not only takes Heidi Cave’s best friend, but it leaves her in a two week coma, takes her legs, and burns over 50% of her body. For the duration of her seven month stay in the burn unit and countless surgeries, Heidi finds herself confronted the same question over and over: Will I be a victim or a survivor?

Determined to return to ordinary life, Heidi learns to embrace strength, beauty, and relentless hope from within. While still learning to use prosthetic legs, she testifies in court against the young driver who killed her best friend and forever changed Heidi’s life. Through his claims that Heidi ruined his life, Heidi knows she can’t move on, and chooses to forgive the driver, in order to finally allow herself to be loved by the boyfriend who stood by her, and eventually became her husband.

Miracles can be made from tragedy
